About

We Remember Them: Choral Music from the Camps and the Ghettos

The camps and ghettos of the Holocaust, amid all the despair and death, gave birth to music of great power and beauty. Much of this music was passed along secretly among these communities and provided a brief respite from the hopelessness of their condition.

In this concert of choral works by composers who perished in the Holocaust, as well as contemporary composers who wrote to sustain the memory of all those who suffered, we are also reminded of man’s profound ability to create beauty out of madness. Maestro Bagwell will lead The Chorale in a program entitled We Remember Them, in the magnificent sanctuary of Central Synagogue.
